Q: What’s so great about Writer’s Relief Full Service?

A: We’ve been managing the submission process for creative writers since 1994. We’ve worked with national best sellers and promising but unpublished writers. If we weren’t doing something right, we wouldn’t be around.

Market Research and Targeting:

We maintain a database of tens of thousands of editors of literary journals as well as literary agents. We also have insider info. We know which agents and editors are right for you in terms of content and style. Our personalized targeting will save you countless hours of frustration AND will be as effective as possible. No “submission spam.” That’s just wrong.

A Personalized Submission Strategy:

Develop a game plan that will advance your writing career with the help of a submission strategist who knows you, your writing, and the market conditions for your particular kind of work.

Cover and Query Letter Composition:

We’ll write your query letters for your books and/or your cover letters for submissions to literary journals. Our letters have been getting results since 1994!

One-Step Hard Copy Submissions:

We’ll individually address and print hard copy letters (which will save you tons of time!). All you have to do is assemble your submission packets and drop them in the mail!

One-Step Online Submissions:

Save time and trees by submitting online! No more tedious annoyances (like double-checking editor’s names, format, or URLs). Our interactive submission report will have you making strong submissions FAST.

Skilled Manuscript Preparation:

We format your work to industry standards. Your days of fighting with Microsoft Word headers are over.

Expert Proofreading:

Professional writers know the value of professional proofreading. We’re top-notch (so you can be too).

Submission Tracking:

We track the responses that literary agents and journal editors send regarding your work. We even track personal comments, requests for more material, etc. This leads to stronger submissions over time.

We save a clean, master copy of all of your Writer’s Relief submissions. If your computer crashes, we’ve got you covered.

Q: How often do you make submissions for your clients?

A: Our Full Service was designed for writers who want an ongoing relationship and a big bump in their publishing career. Full Service clients are writers who are in it to win it—for the long haul. However, there are no termination fees.

We submit our clients’ work to 25+ well-targeted markets once every two months (we call each two-month block a “cycle”). There are six submission cycles per year. Some writers will submit the same work a few times in a row (to new markets each time). Some writers submit new work each cycle. Some writers opt to skip a cycle—but we advise against this. Our job is to encourage you to keep writing and submitting, so don’t be surprised when we call you and ask what you’re working on!

Q: What’s this gonna cost me?

A: We are specialized personal assistants. So—of course—writers pay us as such. We do not work on (or take any) commission. We can’t guarantee success, but we can guarantee that we make the submission process less frustrating and painful. We focus on the paperwork; you focus on the writing.

NOTE: Literary agents do not charge for their services. We are not literary agents. Hiring us is hiring a team of specialized personal assistants. Hence, we are paid directly for the hard work we do.

RATES for one round of 25+ submissions

There is a one-time registration fee of $225 for new clients in order to cover the cost of creating the infrastructure needed to develop and sustain a strong submission strategy (covers our time spent setting up your personal database, file storage/organizing system, personal online submission table for live, 24/7 response tracking, and more).

Q: I love this! I want you to help me advance my writing career by making strong, regular submissions. Where do I sign up?

A: We love your enthusiasm! But there’s one more thing you need to know.

Writers must submit their work for (free) consideration to our Review Board.

We’ve got to be picky because we’re ethical. We can’t in good conscience accept writers into our Full Service if their work isn’t appropriate for submission. Only about 20% of writers who apply are invited to join our Full Service.
