Writing Prompt—Wandering Minds

Monday, 14 April 2008 04:10 by Writer's Relief Staff

Write about your next travel destination. Travel is always fertile ground for creative writing ideas. Write about what you hope to do and the sites you plan to see. Write about the venues you plan to explore. Will you be drinking piña coladas or climbing mountains in Tibet? Taking a raft down the Colorado or playing arcade games at the Jersey Shore? Do your ideas of a dream vacation match those of your spouse or friends? Who wants to be on the golf course, and who wants to be looking for the Lovely Cotinga in Belize? Whatever your destination, capture the experience through your writing.

When you’ve returned from your travels and gotten settled in at home, take some time to read your work aloud. Listen to hear the difference between what you wrote and what you meant to write. As you fine-tune and embellish what you’ve written, remember that before it’s ready to go you’ll want to proofread your work.
